Did you know?
Organic dried fruit is significantly darker than ones in the supermarkets - this is due to the removal of sulphites. Sulphites are commonly used as preservatives in beer, wine, dried fruits and meat products. It can cause people headaches (red wine), red and itchy skin, rashes, and hives. Conventional dried fruits have added sulphites to preserve the fruits original colour at ripeness, keep them soft and increase shelf life. So remember, the darker appearance on dried fruit represents the natural aging process – that’s a good thing

Once opened, the sultans should be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for optimal freshness.
Burrum Biodynamics is a biodynamic and organic lentil, pulse and grain farm based in North West Victoria. Back in mid-’90s and early 2000’s, Stephen Walter, a fifth generation farmer, and his wife Tania began exploring the concept of biodynamic food. Learning from the founding father of Australian biodynamics himself, Alex Podolinsky, the Walters experimented with a soil activator derived from manure, herbs and crystals. The crops responded so well that the farm officially converted from conventional to biodynamic farming, and never looked back. By 2008, they’d achieved the coveted Demeter Biodynamic certification.
