Nabula (Nabs) Brdar, a busy mum, recognised the challenge of deciphering ingredient lists in supermarkets, which often contain confusing additives and preservatives. Driven by a desire to reduce her family's intake, she embarked on a journey to find additive free alternatives. She began substituting supermarket products with those containing real, recognisable ingredients and sharing her swaps on social media under the handle @Supermarket.Swap, which rapidly attracted a large following of people eager to learn about making healthier food choices for their families.
Seeing the widespread difficulty in understanding ingredient lists, Nabs developed the Supermarket Swap App, the first Australian app of its kind. This tool, backed by extensive research from health professionals and a food scientist, enables users to easily identify additives and preservatives in Australian products.
The app simplifies shopping by offering an extensive database of additive and preservative-free products eases the burden of meal planning, with its meal plan template and 200+ recipes.
