Marlivale Farm

The diverse landscape, rolling hills, fertile river valleys and high annual rainfall of the Northern Rivers, NSW, provide the perfect environment to grow rice. Andrea, Frank, Sophie, Mac and Wilbur the dog are the family (plus pickers and packers) behind Marlivale, a rice and pecan farm in Goolmangar that has been providing for the local community for decades.

Using a soil-first approach, they work hard (with the help of their small herd of cattle) to restore and nurture their biologically-rich land, using only natural and sustainable farming practices. Unlike traditional rice farming, Marlivale grows their rice in rain-fed fields, not rice paddies, resulting in a hardy and durable nutrient-dense crop. With no irrigation used, they rely solely on rainfall for their seasonal output - known as Dryland farming.

At Marlivale, they are fostering a more fruitful future that they hope will feed many generations to come, and we are proud at P&P to support them in this endeavour.
