Burrum Biodynamics is a biodynamic and organic lentil, pulse and grain farm based in North West Victoria. Back in mid-’90s and early 2000’s, Stephen Walter, a fifth generation farmer, and his wife Tania began exploring the concept of biodynamic food. Learning from the founding father of Australian biodynamics himself, Alex Podolinsky, the Walters experimented with a soil activator derived from manure, herbs and crystals. The crops responded so well that the farm officially converted from conventional to biodynamic farming, and never looked back. By 2008, they’d achieved the coveted Demeter Biodynamic certification.
