A good homemade granola is one of those recipes worth keeping on repeat.
This recipe from our friends Jules and Loz at BABLE (Baby Food Bible) is a great one to have on hand for lunchboxes, easy sambos and delicious toppings.
Made with rolled oats, seeds, coconut, maple syrup and a little cinnamon, these Granola Sprinkles are simple, affordable and full of pantry staples.
Sprinkle over yoghurt, add to lunchboxes or enjoy straight from the jar.
And the best part? You can turn the very same granola into a thick, naturally sweet Granola Butter. Perfect for spreading on toast, making little pancake sandwiches or adding to your favourite snacks.
Two simple recipes, one batch of granola and plenty of ways to enjoy them.
Granola Sprinkles
A simple, crunchy homemade granola that's great for breakfast, lunchboxes and snacking.
Ingredients
-
¼ cup melted coconut oil
-
¼ cup maple syrup
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
2½ cups rolled oats
-
¼ cup sunflower seeds
-
¼ cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
-
¼ cup shredded coconut
-
¼ cup hemp seeds
-
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Method
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C fan-forced. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, maple syrup and vanilla extract until well combined.
-
Add the remaining ingredients. If serving to children under four, briefly blitz the sunflower seeds and pepitas before adding. Mix well to ensure the oats and seeds are fully coated.
-
Spread the mixture evenly over the prepared baking tray and bake for approximately 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent burning.
-
Remove from the oven once the granola is golden all over.
-
Allow to cool for 10 minutes before enjoying.
