What is Hydroxiapatite?
Nutritionist Jordie Pie from @jordiepieface and low-tox guru Amelia Davatzis from @a.glimpse.of.amelia are our go-tos when looking for natural, toxic free swaps for some common household and pantry products.
They have some great information on better choices for toothpaste, many of which contain the ingredient hydroxyapatite, which is an effective replacement for fluoride.
Hydroxyapatite is a mineral form of calcium that is naturally present in your bones and teeth (in fact, it’s one of the main components of enamel). There are two forms of hydroxyapatite - nano and non-nano.
Nano hydroxyapatite is the synthetic form. Non-nano hydroxyapatite is 100% naturally derived and is highly successful at repairing the enamel surface of the tooth. Grin chooses to use non-nano hydroxyapatite in its strengthening toothpaste.
You can find Jordie and Amelia’s toothpaste post here.
Benefits of hydroxyapatite
- Prevents and reverses cavities as it binds with teeth to rebuild enamel.
- Naturally whitens teeth.
- Can help to ease tooth sensitivity.
- Promotes a healthier oral microbiome.
- Safe, non toxic and biocompatible.
- Stabilises mouth alkalinity by making teeth more resistant to acidity.

It all starts here, in the mouth, for overall health.
Amelia has very kindly offered our P&P audience a discounted price on her eBook.
