Platters the “Proper” Way
Crisps.
A must! Crunchy and salty, crisps and dip make the perfect pairing. Loved by kids and adults alike, try vinegar and salt for a zingy kick or rosemary and thyme for an elevated take on a classic.
Nuts & Seeds.
High in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, low in carbs and with a good amount of dietary protein, they can be served either sweet or savoury. Try adding variety to the platter by including pecans, walnuts, pistachios and hazelnuts.
Olives.
These fruits (yes, they’re a fruit!) are high in antioxidants that can help to lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Rich in monounsaturated fats, they make for a filling snack and are delicious on a platter stuffed with garlic or chilli.
Vegetables.
Crudites (which are sliced or raw vegetables) are a fresh, colourful platter addition. Use whatever’s in season - cucumber, carrot, celery, cherry tomatoes, radishes and sugar snap peas all work well.
Cheese
Always a crowd pleaser, choose your favourite soft or hard varieties. Rich in calcium as well as vitamins A, D and K, which all contribute to bone health, it also contains a good serving of protein and minerals. Try an aged cheddar or a creamy baked brie.
