Sweeteners
Our Alternatives to Refined Sugar
Not all sweeteners are created equal. Some are heavily processed and refined, with basically no nutritional value. At P&P, our sweeteners not only add a depth of flavour but they also have added health benefits. We use strict criteria when sourcing our sweeteners to ensure they meet our high standards of sustainability, quality and ethics.
Sustainability
Our organic honey from Raw Honey is sustainably produced in an off-grid facility in Victoria and their roof is used as a collection point for rainwater. Each season, the hives are migrated to follow the flowering cycles of the area’s native flora.
Premium Quality
Our Spiral Foods Canadian Grade A organic maple syrup is 100% pure, and is made by simply tapping sugar maple trees, then boiling the sap.
Ethical
Our coconut sugar from Niulife is handcrafted from the sweet nectar of organic coconut blossoms. 100% of the company’s profits go directly back to the communities who make the products.
For Your Sweet Tooth
Honey
Raw honey has been used medicinally for thousands of years. A natural sweetener, it is known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties that come from bee pollen and propolis. It can also be used topically for minor cuts and burns.
Maple Syrup
Pure maple syrup is not only high in antioxidants which can combat damage from free radicals, but every spoonful offers nutrients including riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, calcium and manganese, which is essential for healthy bones.
Monk Fruit
Sourced from the monk fruit plant, this sweetener has zero calories or carbs. It adds sweetness to your favourite recipes without causing your blood glucose levels to rise. Our monk fruit sweetener is sustainably made in an off-grid manufacturing facility.
Stevia
A classic alternative to traditional sugars, it is primarily grown in Brazil, Paraguay, Japan and China. It provides a clean and satisfying sweetness without impacting blood sugar levels. Our extract and concentrate are taken from from stevia leaves without the use of chemicals.
Coconut Sugar
Low GI and rich in minerals like potassium and magnesium, coconut sugar is a great alternative to cane sugar. It’s also less likely to spike your blood sugar due to inulin, a type of soluble fibre. With a rich caramel flavour, you can use it as a 1:1 sugar replacement in any recipe.
