The Benefits.

  • Assists with energy supply and nerve, muscle and heart function (vitamin B1, B2 and B3 in brewer’s yeast)
  • Helps the production of red blood cells (vitamin B6 and B12 in brewer’s yeast)
  • Supports optimal immune function and energy supply (iron and zinc in soybean paste)
  • Supports energy creation and healthy bones and teeth (manganese and phosphorus in soybean paste)
  • May help keep skin and hair healthy via haemoglobin and collagen formation (copper in soybean paste)

What Goes In.

Organic soybean paste (organic soybean, water, salt, koji {Aspergillus oryzae}), inactive yeast (spent brewer’s yeast) (wheat barley), filtered water, malt extract (barley, malt, barley, water), sea salt.

What's Kept Out.

No dairy, artificial flavours, numbers, colours, thickeners, emulsifiers, fillers, additives and funky stuff. Oh, except for the slow fermented organic miso. That’s funky but in the very best umami way.

Did You Know?

Many savoury yeast spreads are made with artificial ingredients including colours, numbers, flavour enhancers and processed salt, linked to a variety of health concerns.

Geography.

Created in Byron Bay, and lovingly hand-made in Melbourne.

Hot Tip.

Oomite is addictively delicious as a spread. But you can also use it as a secret weapon in savoury and sweet dishes to add an umami kick to soups, stews and sauces like bolognese, or desserts such as salted caramel and chocolate. As the chefs say “use it like gold dust, a little goes a long way.”

Nutrition Information.

Oomite

The seed for Oomite was planted back in 2017, when two food obsessed mums (Katie Graham and Magdalena Roze) both had the idea of making a 100% natural mitey spread packed with real ingredients and amazing flavour. After two years of recipe testing (it’s not easy to make an all-natural, umami-packed thick spread!) and many loaves of sourdough and cultured butter, they finally made something they found delicious and addictive. To be sure they tested it on chefs and when they begged for more, they knew it was time to hit go! Oomite can now be found on the menus of some of the country’s best cafes, restaurants and bakeries from Three Blue Ducks, Bills, and Rae’s, to Black Cockatoo and Falco bakeries. Due to the small batch, hand-made nature of Oomite it continues to be a hospitality product but thanks to popular demand, Mags and Katie are thrilled to release some of the Chef’s Pails for you to enjoy at home.
