Frequently Asked Questions

Is dark chocolate healthier than milk chocolate?

Dark chocolate generally contains more cacao and less added sugar than milk chocolate, along with naturally occurring antioxidants from the cocoa solids. That said, chocolate remains a treat food regardless of type, so moderation is sensible as part of a balanced diet.

What does 70% cacao actually mean?

The percentage refers to the proportion of the bar made up of cacao-derived ingredients, namely cocoa solids and cocoa butter, with the remainder being sugar and any added milk solids. A 70% bar has less added sugar than a 40% milk chocolate bar.

Is your chocolate seed oil free?

Most chocolate in this collection uses cocoa butter as its main fat, without added seed oils. A few products include small amounts in inclusions such as dried fruit, so check the ingredients on the product page to be sure.

Is your chocolate ethically sourced?

Many brands in this collection carry Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or direct-trade sourcing claims, which you can check on the individual product page. We prioritise brands that are transparent about their cacao supply chain.

How should I store chocolate?

Store chocolate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally below 20°C, and avoid the fridge where possible to prevent sugar bloom. Keep it wrapped, as chocolate easily absorbs nearby odours.

Is chocolate suitable for children?

Plain dark or milk chocolate in moderation is a common treat for many families, though caffeine content (present in cocoa) and sugar levels are worth considering for younger children. Parents should make this call based on their own household's needs.
