Mushroom Supplements & Biohacking Guide
New to mushroom supplements, or comparing brands? This is every medicinal mushroom extract in our range, with what it's made from, how it's extracted and where it comes from, taken from each brand's own description. Below that are the other biohacking staples we stock, such as creatine, magnesium and electrolytes, and answers to the questions we get asked most.
Single mushroom extracts

A shaggy white mushroom that looks like a lion's mane or a pom-pom. It's also eaten fresh as a food, with a mild, seafood-like flavour | SuperFeast Lion's Mane (100g or 250g): fruiting bodies grown on wood in China, 10:1 extract |

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between fruiting body and mycelium?
The fruiting body is the part of the mushroom you can see above ground, with a cap or a shelf. The mycelium is the network of root-like threads it grows from. SuperFeast's lion's mane, reishi and Mason's Mushrooms are made from fruiting bodies, while cordyceps supplements use CS-4 mycelium grown by fermentation.
What does a 10:1 extract mean?
It means roughly 10 kilograms of dried mushroom were used to make 1 kilogram of extract powder. Extraction concentrates the mushroom and removes the tough fibre that the body can't break down.
What is a dual extract?
A dual extract uses two steps: hot water, which draws out compounds such as beta-glucans, and alcohol, which draws out compounds such as triterpenes that don't dissolve in water. SuperFeast's reishi is dual extracted.
What is CS-4 cordyceps?
CS-4 is a strain of Cordyceps sinensis grown as mycelium by liquid fermentation. Wild cordyceps grows on caterpillar larvae in the Himalayas and is rare and very expensive, so CS-4 is the form used in most supplements. Both the SuperFeast and Teelixir cordyceps we stock are CS-4, grown on a vegan base.
What's the difference between lion's mane and reishi?
Lion's mane is a soft, shaggy white mushroom that's also eaten as food. Reishi is a hard, woody, bitter mushroom that's only used as an extract or tea. Both have a long history in traditional Chinese medicine, and both are available as SuperFeast extract powders.
How do people take mushroom powders?
Most people stir the powder into hot water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate or a smoothie. For a ready-made option, Social Alchemy Adaptogenic Hot Chocolate already contains reishi and chaga. Follow the serving size on each pack, and check with your healthcare practitioner first if you're pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication.
How did you check these?
We took each product's ingredients, source and extraction method from the brand's own description. Formulas can change, so the label is always the final word.
